Village Life in Iran | Iranian Village Life Hello to you who are watching this video 🌿 I am Sahar. Every day I start with the crowing of roosters and the breeze blowing through the trees. There are no car horns or traffic here; there is only the sound of nature and the gentle light of the sun slowly rising from behind the mountains. I wake up very early in the morning. Before doing anything, I open the wooden window of our house to let in fresh air. The smell of damp soil, the smell of fresh grass, and the sound of chickens and roosters means the beginning of a new day in rural Iranian life for me. My first task is to clean the house. I take out the broom and clean our simple, mud yard. This may seem simple and repetitive to some, but for me it is part of the peace of traditional life. When the house is tidy, one’s heart is also calmer. Feeding the Chickens and Roosters | Part of Small Family Farming After cleaning, I go to the chickens and roosters. They are part of our lives. I go towards them with a bowl of grain. When they hear my footsteps, they gather around me. This scene repeats itself every day, but it never gets boring for me. Living in the countryside means being dependent on nature, which means traditional farming, which means respecting animals and the land. The fresh eggs we get from them are part of our healthy and organic food. Many of you who live in busy cities may wish you could experience just one morning like this; a morning without rush, without stress, only with the sound of birds chirping. Heading to the garden with my gray donkey After taking care of the animals, it’s time to head to the garden. I have a gray donkey that has been with me for years. It may be strange to some, but in rural Iranian life, the donkey is still one of the most practical means of transportation on dirt and uneven paths. I mount my donkey and head towards the garden. The path is full of green trees, the sound of flowing water, and the scent of mountain plants. These moments are like meditation for me; pure peace. In the garden, I start to pick fresh grass. This grass is used for livestock and part of the daily needs of the house. Working in nature has its own hardships, but when my hands get dirty, I feel more connected to the earth and my roots. Returning home and preparing a traditional lunch After collecting the grass, I get back on my donkey and head back home. The sun is now higher and its warm light shines on the mud walls of the house. It’s time to cook lunch. Today I decided to cook local buttermilk soup; one of the traditional Iranian dishes that is prepared in different villages of Iran with slightly different recipes. How to make local buttermilk soup in my own words To make buttermilk soup, I use simple but healthy ingredients: Fresh local buttermilk, aromatic herbs, rice, chickpeas, and a little garlic. First, I cook the chickpeas that I soaked the night before. Then I add the rice. When it is a little soft, I slowly pour the fresh buttermilk into the pot and stir constantly until it doesn't burn. I add the chopped vegetables, and their aroma fills the entire yard. A simple but profound moment; next to little Delsa After the soup is ready, I spread our simple table. My daughter, little Delsa, sits next to me. Her laughter takes all the morning fatigue out of my body. Together we eat the hot and delicious buttermilk soup. This scene may be ordinary for many, but for me it means happiness. Happiness lies in simplicity, in being with family, in food made with your own hands and from natural ingredients.
