Two years in the making, and a year after full-length album Conveyance in Death, RHÛN’s Burial Pact is released through House of Inkantation in an imposing cloud of billowing dark atmospherics and deathened doomy psychedelia. In just a brief 20-minute EP, Aaron Charles (of Falls of Rauros, Blood Chariot, and live Panopticon guitars), combines several seemingly disparate styles and instruments into a cohesive channel of torrential brooding heaviness. Expansive psychedelic mellotron and Leslie speaker modulation are charged against the raw wilderness of oppressive black metal to create a captivating, crushing kaleidoscope of sound that peals off into an unspooling distance of undulating terrain and dense fauna.
