A Fly Fishing Hack that demonstrates how to make a fixed Strike Indicator for use with Nymphs. The actual body of the indicator could be made from far more suitable materials, such as Foam Cylinders used to make Booby Eyes as an example, but I am using what I have in the drawer here, as it were. The main disadvantage with the design is the depth cannot easily be adjusted, but it does cast very well wherever it is attached and floats all day. The Strike Indicator can be varied in size and colour to suit your individual needs. The main way to attach it is by passing one loop of the indicator through your leader loop. Then pass the other loop of the indicator through first loop of the indicator and then slide the foam through the loop and pull tight, a loop to loop connection. Another way, especially if you intend to fish your Nymph shallower than your leader length is to tie it on to the leader and then attach a tippet of the required depth in length to the other loop using a knot of your choice. If you have the equipment in the field, then the indicator could be built as required quite quickly and easily.
