(1) The exchanged segments in illustration doesn’t show the full distal region from the crossover point to the end, as we did not extend the color to the full distal arm, when we should. (Note: while possible to have a small segment as we do, that would be more of a gene conversion event and is not the intention here) and (2) In the *illustration*, the arm of the purple chromosome wraps forward instead of just being overlapped. While our intention was to show some elasticity instead of completely rigid "stick-like" structures (which we notice often surprises students when they see a karyotype and realize the chromosomes are not completely straight Xs), we definitely don't want to cause a misconception that a "mechanical wrapping" causes the crossing over event. Crossover points should be in cross-shaped junctions. We could fix by making the purple chromosome lay flat so that the point of crossover will be in a cross-shaped junction.
