It's never a straight forward answer whenever I get asked what type of music do I like playing, or what is my favourite band. It really depends on what genre I've been listening to or if and when I am learning material for an upcoming show and at any given time. However, the music of / the band SEVENDUST has always been one band that if I was only allowed to nominate one band, one music to listen to, and one band I'd love to be the drummer for; is it! 7Dust....pure and simple. Drummer Morgan Rose always slays and one intricate drummer to emulate both in his musical choices when he creates his drum parts but also the showman / performer side. Definitely a complete package when it comes to 'show and go' As a result it took me a lot of convincing to attempt to play a cover of 'Rumble Fish' - my favourite 7D track. The kick drum pattern that locks in the with the guitar riff (a 7D specialty) is a ripper of a pattern; both in speed and phrasing. I'm happy with my B+ attempt just put it that way....hah. And the track never truly allows you to get comfortable either with its various shifts in gears, syncopation and change in feel. If the visible sweat in 4K is any indication, by about the 8th or 9th take, I was ready to give up for another day, . But we pushed through, and I hope you guys dig the attempt....
