This music & video are part of a larger project created to assist the Wixárika (Huichol) nation in protecting 500 + acres of ancestral gardens that are now at risk of being destroyed by agricultural & mining companies. The first part of the project to be released, in a partnership with Mose’s Reseuno label, is an EP by Iyakuh feat. Miguel Carillo & Enrique Ramirez, with remixes by J. Pool & Jakare. The music video was created by @nido_films and @umasai.dao and will premiere on July 14th on the @shivelightofficial Youtube channel and then the EP will be available for streaming on all digital platforms on July 15th via @resuenomusic. Go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-wiriku... to unite with us in this mission and show your support for the Wixárika people. The Wixárika, often known as Huichol, are an indigenous people of Mexico. They have been keeping their rituals and traditions alive for thousands of years. For generation after generation they have honored their relationship to the earth and the original elements of life: fire, water, earth and air. They are one of the few indigenous people in Mexico that still preserve their pre-Columbian traditions. The sacred territory of Wirikuta is located on the ancestral lands of the Wixárika (Huichol) indigenous people. For the Wixárika it is the birthplace of the sun and the territory where their many communities make their pilgrimage. It is also the home of the peyote or hicuri, the cactus that the Wixárika ritually ingest to receive the “gift of seeing”. This project was created with the understanding and permission of Don Rafa and a council of Wixárika elders. Over the last few months, Uma Sai’s creative team has been working directly with Wixarika wisdom keepers and traditional musicians. Recording in the studio and filming on site in their ancestral lands. This is just a small part of an unfolding project including a series of releases of traditional music and short documentaries diving deep into the roots of this beautiful culture. Reaching across the globe, we unite to support the Wixárika Nation through fundraising and social work projects, to preserve the cultural heritage of the Wixárika people and the natural biodiversity of Wirikuta for the future generations. https://linktr.ee/umasai.dao Website: www.umasai.com Instagram: @umasai.dao Youtube: @umasai Filmed and Edited by: Holden Davies Instagram: @nido_films #umasai #umasaisonglines #indigenous #wisdomkeepers #transformation #nature #wixarika
