Let's start in Myanmar where the military junta have extended the country's state of emergency by a further six months. That's right the announcement was made on Wednesday, local time on the two-year anniversary of the military coup. It means that the junta can continue to control all government functions including the legislative, judicial, and executive powers.In a state broadcast junta leader General Min Aung Hlaing said the extension was necessary as unusual circumstances in the country remain. He also said more time is needed to prepare for a peaceful and stable election Elections can not be held in Myanmar during a state of emergency. Although no new date for elections has been given Hlaing hinted that they could take place in August.
