Foxton, New Zealand is the casualty of a man-made environmental disaster. The town is situated alongside a polluted stretch of what was once a vibrant part of the Manawatu river. The river flow was choked off by a disastrous Government works project in 1943. What was supposed to be an emergency flood overflow relief system for a major river failed during construction and so the entire river that once supported the town was diverted. This video shows the environmental, economic, cultural and community impacts of failed Governmental actions...and subsequent inaction... over three quarters of a century. Despite repeated Governmental admissions of failure, no administration has yet righted this wrong. This video shows the problem and the solutions. 2020 can be the year to start reversing this damage; with Government support major projects are ready to go..."shovel ready"!
