The Forty Column Palace of Isfahan, one of the architectural masterpieces of the Safavid era, was built during the reign of Shah Abbas I as a place to relax and receive special guests. Set in a vast, lush garden, the palace is famous for its tall columns and grand porch. In 1327 AH, new information about the history of the palace was obtained with the discovery of two inscriptions under the plasterwork of the building. The inscriptions were in pink and blue, indicating that the building was built during the reign of Shah Abbas II and that it was renovated during the reign of Shah Sultan Hussein.
