Historybounding is a hobby and a sartorial mode - a style choice. Essentially, history bounding is when you build an outfit or personal aesthetic based on (but not necessarily limited to) a particular period of history. This can include hand-made pieces, vintage clothes, modern clothing, or any combination thereof. And no surprise, it is more or less what many gents who wear the kilt are doing all the time - whether purposefully or not. This is the advantage of wearing clothing based on a traditional national dress; fashions within the national dress may come and go, but the core is usually retained. Kilts and their most elegant accessories have not changed much in over 150 years. So for kilted men, doing a historybounding look is about taking things to a "next level". You may want to investigate accessories or styles that are more off the beaten path; perhaps a Sheriff Muir jacket rather than an Argyll-cut jacket or a vintage sporran. This is a great way to get creative with your kilted wardrobe BUT can you go too far? We were aske on puttees - the cloth leg wraps most associated with the uniforms of the First World War - could be worn with the kilt. Is this a historybounding look? Or is it trying too hard to force-fit one thing from the past you think looks kinda cool into an already very timeless outfit?
