Repair of common problems to a Soldering Station 898BD+. Probably applicable to all lookalike models with the same case. If you are searching for solutions to a serious fault then this video will be of no use whatsoever. When starting I had no idea what the outcome was going to be, I just got on and fixed the problems to get it back into service. All in all – a fairly boring video. When repairing it is always worth “checking the connectors first” in lieu of anything obvious, I was lucky this time. There were five issues to be dealt with, two of which were actual faults. The problems with the mains cable was solved by replacing with a C14 10A socket. The hot air gun connector had a broken wire. The soldering iron fault proved to be a NFF. (no fault found) and worked as intended when reassembled. Additionally, its connector wiring was exposed and it was considered expedient to make an insulation sleeve to protect it. Not a satisfactory solution from my point of view (more of a bodge) and could have been improved upon, time will tell.
