Over 50,000 procedures have been performed worldwide with Wright technology.1 Mr. David Redfern and Dr. Joel Vernois first described this operation in a UK French collaboration and have trained surgeons worldwide in their techniques. The standard “open” approach to these procedures includes opening of the skin, soft tissue, and/or joint capsule and then the utilization of a micro sagittal saw to make osteotomies into the bones of the foot. The foot is then aligned back to anatomical norms and fixated with screws or plates designed for open procedures. PROstep™ procedures are performed with a percutaneous 3-5mm incision (versus 3-5 inches for open procedures), and the osteotomies are made with a rotating burr instead of a micro sagittal saw.
