Traditional Baithak Bhava composition of Kathak dance. Presented by ‘ Guru Smt Sharadini Gole ‘ Conceived and Choreographed by Guru Pt Rohini Bhate. 'Geet' (Vartamangupta Nayika) This is an unusual type of Nayika, much different from the Ashtanayika. Here the Nayika wants to hide the present status of her ex-marital affair from her in-laws-specially the duo of 'Saas & Nanadi'. After spending pleasurable movements with her lover, she is back home. But the guilt in here mind provokes her to speak out. She starts giving undue explanations in anticipation of suspicious by her sister-in-law e.g. liip-bite is by a bee, which came out of the lotus flower in Nayikas hair... and so on. As such audience experiences subtle humor! Typical interpretative wise gestures, forte of Kathak Abhinaya deepens this basic emotion and experience of humor further, when Nayika asks her Nanadi, 'why do you bend my round bangle unnecessarily? Or why do you sprinkle dust on the mirror, while I'm looking into it? In the last stanza, the poet also gives a piece of advice!
