Carl Czerny – The Art of Finger Dexterity, Op. 740 No. 31 Welcome to my channel! 🌟 In this video, I perform Exercise No. 31 from Carl Czerny’s The Art of Finger Dexterity, Op. 740 — a virtuosic étude designed to develop advanced finger technique, speed, and precision. Though originally written as a study, this piece bursts with energy and brilliance, making it an exciting performance work in its own right. 🎵 About the Composer: Carl Czerny (1791–1857) was a prolific Austrian composer and one of the most influential piano pedagogues in history. A student of Beethoven and teacher of Liszt, Czerny’s technical studies continue to shape generations of pianists. His works focus on building the mechanics of virtuosity while encouraging musical interpretation. 🎹 About the Piece: Op. 740, The Art of Dexterity, is Czerny’s most advanced set of technical études. No. 31 is a demanding piece that challenges the pianist’s finger independence, articulation, rhythmic control and so on.. To be honest, this piece, although it sounds similar to the others in Book IV, is somehow much more difficult than the others. This recording was made four months after I started playing it, and the audio I'm willing to share wasn't recorded until the twelfth attempt. I think that to bring this piece to perfection really requires an incredible relaxation in playing, and I think even a less experienced listener is able to catch every moment when the player hesitates a little. Well, there's no hiding in Czerny's music and certainly not in this piece! If you enjoy this performance, please like the video, subscribe for more piano content, and leave a comment if there’s another piece or composer you’d like to hear. Have a beautiful day🍀
