Here's the final video in my Chrono Trigger series! This is one of my absolute favorites from the CT OST. I've been working tirelessly on this for the last five or so days. Haha, I've been trying to finish it up since about 9:30 this morning so it's been a 12+ hour day! Unfortunately this one didn't turn out quite like I'd hoped. Due to my job I didn't have nearly as much time to work on it as I would have liked so I had to cut some corners. The biggest issue I had with this cover is the instrumentation. If you listen to the original, there's a flute-ish instrument that is used to convey the main melody. Sadly, I don't have access to any woodwind instruments so I ended up just using a guitar even though it doesn't quite fit. I tried my SG first, but it didn't click for some reason so I broke out the Rocket. The Rocket had a more ideal sound, but the damned thing is about fifty years old so it kept going out of tune! Haha, it literally went out of tune every time I bent a string. You can hear it in the final mix, but hopefully it's not too glaringly bad. Also, there's this weird percussion sound in the original that sort sounds like moaning?? I dunno... I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to emulate it on an instrument so I just did it with my voice. There's a 16th note run that happens in the guitar/harp that I had to cut out. I simply didn't didn't have the time to learn it and put it in : / The OTHER big thing: This morning when I got up to lay the last few guitar tracks down Cubase went nuts and misplaced a bunch of my audio files. I had to go back through and manually line them all back up in the project. So that's why some of the audio doesn't match up with the video. Haha, with all of that considered, I still think that it turned out decently. I guess I just thought that it would be an easy one to bust out in a few days, but it ended up being way more of an undertaking than I'd anticipated. I should have known better since it was composed by Mitsuda-san. Since I love this piece so much I might revisit it in the future. Truth be told, I wanted to finish up Chrono Trigger month with a cover of Schala's theme with lyrics. That is, unequivocally, my favorite piece from the Chrono Trigger score. I quickly realized that it's going to take a lot of time to do that one justice so I'm postponing it for a later date. As I mentioned previously; I'm going to take a brief hiatus to get some things in order. One of the most important being remixing my entire body of covers and making them available to you guys for purchase. I'll put them up for super cheap (like $2 for everything I've ever done) on loudr.fm when I get them done. I think I'm going to man-up and make an update video while on hiatus so keep an eye out for that. I've never sat down and spoken to a camera before so hopefully it won't be too brutally awkward! Finally, I want to say thanks to everybody for sticking with me as well as those of you who just recently got on board. I've gained over 200 subscribers this month (holy crap!) As I've said before, it really means everything to me that you guys enjoy my work. All I've ever wanted in life is to inspire people through music and I'm finally getting the chance to do just that. Thank you for your support, everyone. Composed by Yasunori Mitsuda and arranged by me Original: • Видео
