Today President Tsai Ing-wen stopped by FTV''s headquarters for an up-close look at TV production. The president was welcomed by FTV''s top executives before she embarked on a tour of the studios. During the visit, she stopped by the former office of FTV''s late founder, Chai Trong-rong. The president shared her fond memories of Chai and said she would strive to fulfill his vision for Taiwan. Loud cheers broke out as the president stepped into the crowded lobby. This was Tsai''s warm welcome at the FTV headquarters in Linkou. She was joined by FTV President Wang Ming-yu, General Manager Liao Ji-fang and other executives. Tsai''s first stop was a rendezvous with TV personality Chen Meifen.Tsai and Chen hit it off immediately over their love for animals. They chatted until it was time to get the cameras rolling for Chen''s popular show. Up next was a visit to the set of the primetime program "Great Times," where Tsai watched actors in action. The president then took a tour down memory lane, appreciating memorabilia collected in the 22 years since FTV''s first broadcast. She also stopped by the memorial office of an old friend: the late founder of FTV.After seeing the old photos, the president reminisced on her friendship with Chai.Tsai Ing-wenPresidentPresident Chai left us some time ago, but I still feel as if he could turn up at my door tomorrow. I was very close with him. Seeing these old photos today made me think back on when we were all together. He was a selfless person. We could all feel the passion with which he cared for Taiwan. The vision that he left behind - we will accomplish it for him.Pledging to continue Chai''s legacy, Tsai said she would strive to win reelection to protect Taiwan. She underscored the role of media in a democratic society, as she called on FTV''s news team to continue fulfilling its duty of safeguarding Taiwan.
