Jurors in Kouri Richins' murder trial today heard the 911 call she made early on March 4, 2022, after finding her husband, Eric Richins, unresponsive in their bed in their home in Kamas, Utah. The jury first heard a portion of the call during the defense's opening statement on Feb. 23. Kathy Nester told jurors the call was Richins "becoming a widow." The recording was entered as evidence today (Monday, March 9, day 10) "I just I was sleeping in with my kids. I just came in the bed, in our bed, and I turned over and he's cold, he's just cold." "Who's cold?" "My husband." 02:28 dispatcher: "You can do it. You can do it. You need to calm down. I can guide you through CPR. Take a deep breath from me. I'm here with you." 04:30 "We just need to get him on the floor. Don't worry about hurting them. Is he still on the bed?" 06:35 "I have the ambulance on the way. I just need you to do this, okay, so we can get the help for him. Okay, once they arrive, they'll take over. We just need to start CPR now, you are doing great." 10:10 Paramedic: "We're in the back bedroom" Background: Kouri Richins, 35, is accused of fatally poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, with fentanyl at their home in Kamas, Utah, in March 2022. After he died, she self-published a children's book she authored titled "Are You With Me?" about coping with grief. Eric Richins, 39, was found dead in their home on March 4, 2022. Prosecutors allege Kouri dropped a lethal dose of fentanyl in a Moscow Mule cocktail she prepared for him. They say she was motivated by money because she owed nearly $5 million to lenders and had changed her husband's life insurance policies prior to his death while also taking out a home equity line of credit without his knowledge. She also was in a romantic relationship with another man. Her defense is that her husband died of a self-inflicted overdose and his family pressured police to implicate her. Richins' criminal charges in Summit County, Utah, include aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder, forgery and insurance fraud. Her trial is scheduled to last five weeks. Judge Richard Mrazik in Utah's 3rd Judicial District is presiding at the Silver Summit Justice Center near Park City. ****************************************************************************** Subscribe to Legal Affairs and Trials with Meghann Cuniff: https://www.legalaffairsandtrials.com...
