This vibrant village is one of Vietnam's foremost suppliers of flowers. Boasting a rich horticultural tradition that dates back over a century, Sa Đéc has flourished into a beloved tourist attraction, especially bustling during the weeks leading up to Tết, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. Encompassing hundreds of hectares, the fields burst with colorful blossoms under the care of over 2,000 households. These families largely depend on the cultivation and trade of flowers and ornamental plants for their livelihoods. Given the low-lying topography, where rice paddies are prone to flooding, innovative farming practices are essential. Farmers have adapted by cultivating their flowers on elevated platforms. Boats traverse the canals between these platforms, facilitating the necessary gardening and irrigation activities to ensure the flowers thrive.
