Classic Range Rover development began in 1966 and it was launched in 1970. Combining luxury, performance and off road capability. It was a sensation. The iconic design featured a combination of coil spring suspension, the Buick derived all-alloy V8 engine, permanent 4 wheel drive and a practical car like interior. Did you know that the original design team was headed by Charle Spencer "Spen" King who was the nephew of Maurice and Spencer Wilks, founders of Land Rover? Other key people involved in the design were Gordon Bashford and David Bache. It was a small team that created a land mark moment. In 1990 to celebrate 20 years of production a limited edition 2 door was introduced bearing the initials CSK in honour of chief engineer Charles Spencer King. Any colour was available as long as it was black!
