Taktshang Drolayphug and other sacred caves around it (the must visit places) Takshang Shama(Drolayphug): If you descend for about forty minutes through the ravine from Ugyentsemo, you will reach Shama Lhakhang or Dorlayphug . This temple was built in the middle of a cliff to counteract the malevolent influence of male and female oath-breaking demons. On a black natural rock, to the left of the path going to the temple ,you can see the form of a wish-fulfilling tree with five-hundred branches on one trunk. Then there is Thratsahphug on the side of a cliff in which the skins of the cannibal demons were spread. Below the cliff, to the right of the path, you can see a naturally-arisen form of Amitayus( Tshepame the god of long life ) , the side of a monkeys hand span. As you descend there is a veiled conch (Dungkhar ). Below the path there is a cavern , known as Chogyalphug ; it is a said that fortunate one see the dances of Paro Tshechu inside this cavern. As one goes forward ,there is a lute ,a footprint of Khandro Yeshe Tshogyal and a necklace of Guru Rinpoche on one side of a rock. Then if one goes up a little from the kadam Stupa , one can see a naturally-formed skull on one side of the cliff known as kapaliphug (skull cave). There is a meditation cave of Khandro Dorji Phagmo (Vajravarahi ) and a stone vessel which was used for feasting . Infront of the meditation cave there is a place from which one can collect earth . It is said that this soil is a antidote to flu and also good for making relic-pills of the secret mantra. There are also the form of the following : secret vajra (gsang rdor) of Dorji Drolo; the face and the eye of Guru Dorji Drolo; the left eye of Guru Rinpoche; and the collar of the sacred place. People say that it is like a cloth without a collar (incomplete ) if one sees all the sacred sites of Taktshang but not Shama Lhakhang or Dorlayphug. One can see there a two-storey temple built by kathog Rigdzin Tulku Sonam Gyeltshen who upheld the religious tradition of Gyalwa Kathogpa. Later after Zhabdrung Rinpoche took , it was taken care by the government of Bhutan. If one look from the right side of the temple one can clearly see a form of the left eye of Guru Dorji Drolo the upper and lower lips and the stupa of Complete Victory ( rnam rgyal mchod rten). If one look from the temple one can see a form of the lungs of the cannibal demon and lower down his heart. These were removed when the demon was subdued. If one walks a little way along the path above the veiled conch which goes to Paro one can see the Yoselphug. Although in the biography of Drubthob Jinpa Gyeltshen, it is written that there is a naturally-arisen mythical wish-fulfilling jewel (nor bu 'bar ba) and a footprint of the Drubthob at a place called Tandinphug near Shama nobody can locate these today. If one circumambulate from the right side of Phalphug and leaves via Shama ,it is said that one accumulates the virtue of Circumambulate the second Tsari or the Zangtopelri of Ugyen Guru Rinpoche at Heaven Tushita.
