The helipad is being built to enable Putin to travel quickly between his out-of-Moscow residence and the Kremlin, and also to lessen traffic jams in Moscow which routinely occur when traffic is stopped for Russia's top officials. Viktor Khrekov, the Kremlin household chief manager, was keen to point out to reporters that the historical buildings surrounding the helipad would not be disturbed. "The research that has been carried out showed that (vibrations from helicopters) will cause no negative impact on architectural structures and interior decorations," he said. But some Moscow drivers are sceptical that the move will help alleviate the traffic jams in the capital. "For him (Putin) the traffic is cut for rather a short time, he passes quickly, and then it all moves as before.
