Ocean In Motion Classroom Session #6: "Ocean Education, Innovation for Impact, Turtle Rehab, & Carbon Sequestration" Guest: Maryke Musson - Marine Scientist - Ocean Impact, Sustainability, and Conservation Specialist & Previous CEO, Two Oceans Aquarium Education Foundation . Aquariums play a huge role in ocean education, awareness, and conservation. Not only do they give us an opportunity to learn about the ocean ecosystem and learn to love our oceans, they contribute a great deal to the research and understanding of coastal and marine ecosystems and how to look after these spaces sustainably. They inspire us to care about each other and about the environment! Another aspect of aquariums is their educational arm, which inspires, and has multiple educational classrooms that give back to education and outreach programs to disadvantaged communities, like the Two Oceans Education Foundation that we're proud to be supporting again, which includes their amazing outreach program that supports outreach to many disadvantaged communities all over the region. Aquariums like the Two Oceans Aquarium and the Monterey Bay Aquarium also facilitate massive rehabilitation programs to rehabilitate animals including sea turtles and other marine creatures that they rescue, rehabilitate, tag, and release back into the wild.
