St. Lambert Elementary School is at the forefront of this initiative and was joined by other Riverside schools in St. Lambert including REACH and Saint-Lambert International High School. Émilie Bortolussi-Courval, who came up with the idea for the wave six years ago and is now in high school, also joined the wave procession. “We are extremely thrilled that a student-led initiative has captured the hearts and attention of the entire St. Lambert community. Collectively, our schools are making a statement that bullying will not be tolerated in our schools,” says Deborah Angelus, Principal of St. Lambert Elementary and the main organizer of the event. This year, in parallel with the Wave against Bullying Event, St. Lambert Elementary School had a toonie drive for the Kids Help Line, which offers 24/7 counselling and information services to young people. Students, staff, parents and residents were lined up starting at Notre-Dame Street along Green Street to Tiffin Street. St. Lambert police was on-site to ensure the safety of all the participants.
