Victor Mishalow plays Bandura for the National Library of Australia Collection

World renowned Ukrainian bandurist, Victor Mishalow was born in Sydney NSW. He gained an interest in the Ukrainian national instrument the Bandura at an early age learning from some of the Ukrainian players who lived in Australia. Victor also recorded many tunes that would have otherwise been lost and also absorbed the style of the older players. Victor is also a highly qualified musicolgist gaining degrees in both Australia and Ukraine. He now resides in Toronto, Canada and Olya and I caught up with him on a visit to Australia in 2013.
