The first snow of the winter

I woke up this morning to find it had snowed quite a lot during the night! This is the first snow we have had of this winter. Making new steps in the snow i got the quad bike out and did a donut it the snow! I got some footage near the same place i took the photo in the last video (with the low cloud). This time you couldn't see much and the sky was looking dark still. I passed the cows and went to the hen shed to start running the muck belts which go along conveyor belts and drop into the trailer parked outside. It was then onto starting the eggs and packing them which takes quite a bit of time each day. We then did some feeding and straw bedding in the cow sheds. I was driving the forklift to drop the straw in the back of the new shredding machine. The snow then started melting fast turning everything wet and muddy again. A few days later all the snow was gone and it was onto the usual indoor feeding that we do at this time of the year. I got two bales of silage (after taking my time to decide which ones to get) and dropped them off, removed the plastic, then loaded them into the shredder spreader. I fed some to a cow and her calf that are in a small indoor pen by themselves. I filled up a few bags of feed for the cows and calves. I then got the Polaris Ranger and took the feed to the cows and also filled up the calve feeder. It was then back home to warm up after working in the cold dark wet typical Scottish winter days!
