In Day 12 of my OSCP+ Journey, I took Hydra out of the lab and into the cloud. In this episode, I quickly spun up an AWS EC2 instance, created a new user account, and manually enabled SSH password authentication so that account could log in with a username and password instead of just keys. From my Kali attack box, I then used Hydra to see whether it could discover that user’s password or if AWS‑level controls and defaults would interfere with or block the attack. This is a practical, real‑world style test that bridges the gap between lab‑only learning and how things actually behave in a cloud environment, and it’s great practice if you’re pursuing OSCP, OSCP+, or building offensive security skills in general.
