We Explored Norfolk’s Coolest Ships and Museums!

This Week aboard Bebop, our Hans Christian 48T Project Boat, we get off the boat and go exploring ashore. We visit multiple museums and museum ships here in Norfolk, Virginia. What stories will we learn from history? We first visit the Nauticus Museum. The museum contains exhibits on sailing, the port, and the local environment. We let our inner child out as we explore, learning about the area and everything it has to offer. Our next stop is at the Battleship Wisconsin. This battleship has been an icon of the skyline for many years. The battleship offers a peak into the Navy and the life of a sailor. The next day, we go across the river to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum. The museum tells the history of Norfolk and the Navy Shipyard. The history is harsh, as both the city and the shipyard go through ups and downs, through multiple wars and depressions. Together, the city and the shipyard are able to stand up again, and march into the future. Nearby is our final stop, the Lightship Portsmouth. The lightship is a shore side attraction that is hard to miss. The ship tells the story of the lightships, and how them and their crews helped ships navigate safely to port.
