Yukon Trails: A Scary Ending to The Trip Here’s What Happened - E.7 In this episode, my family—my wife, our two kids, and our dog—are on days 10 and 11 of our canoe trip down the Yukon River, having just come from the Teslin River. We set up camp on a gravel bar, battling strong winds that force us to secure our tent. While we try to enjoy the beauty of the wilderness, the reality of canoe camping keeps us on our toes. On our last day, things take a serious turn when a steady rain begins to fall, and our six-year-old son, Wesley, starts having seizures. We quickly pull over to the riverbank, where I must give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Thankfully, we manage to connect with first responders and share our location as we reach a stretch of river with road access. Instead of finishing at our planned campground, we find ourselves at a boat launch, where Wesley is taken away in an ambulance with my wife, Tori, by his side.
