🍼💦🐵BATH, BOTTLES & NAPTIME🐵💦🍼 ......... 💤💤 💤💤........ All the orphans taken in at Stormberg Conservation are treated with great love and care, 24/7. They are never left unattended. This is what it takes to help them heal. Orphaned baby baboons experience deep trauma and psychological scarring after enduring the loss of their mothers and baboon families. Everything is unfamiliar to them, no matter how humans perceive it. Baby baboons form incredibly strong bonds with their mothers and the effects of the sudden trauma endured by them when being separated from their mothers is heart wrenching to watch. Everything they were familiar with, the world they were used to, and everything that came naturally to them was ripped away. Humans don’t always understand the level of suffering and trauma when boonie mothers (or troop members) are shot, caught for captivity (sold on the black market or used in traditional medicine practices), and it takes a great deal of time and patience to help them heal. Each baboon’s needs are different and the length of time that the healing process will take depends on their individual needs and the level of physical abuse/damage/injuries and trauma they endured. I spend intense hours with each boonie during their recovery process, attending to all their needs, day or night - THIS is what they need. We make their sleeping time as comfortable, loving and cosy as possible, giving them the best we can, sleeping close to the them to give them that sense of protection and security they need. So often, I lie awake at night just staring at them and when they wake up and look for that comfort, I'm right there to comfort them before they get upset. It takes a great amount of compromising, but the rewards are indescribable. That love is something I can't describe, it's a feeling like no other. Because I spend a lot of time playing with the baby boonies outside, they get dirty! This means a nice warm bath before their bottle feed and bedtime. Sometimes, they are so tired after their day’s activity that they fall asleep in my arms, in the warm bath water, and don't particularly want to get out. Some of them find comfort in sucking their bottle teat as they would with their mothers, some suck their thumbs (sometimes so intense that they end up getting blisters on them) and some like to carry on sucking on the empty bottle. They find this soothing and a source of a reassurance, a kind of connection to their lost mothers. 🐵BE A BABOON HERO🐵 **MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND CHANGE THEIR WORLD 🐵♥️ *🐵♥️Any Donations big or small, we WELCOME them all ♥️🐵DONATIONS🐵♥️ https://www.paypal.me/stormbergboonies Volunteer: http://www.stormbergconservation.co.z...
