Lee Anderson is 'not Islamophobic or racist', insists Tory MP | LBC

Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns adamantly defends Lee Anderson, stressing to Rachel Johnson that she doesn't believe he is 'racist.' Jenkyns also claims she's 'never seen racism' in the party herself, amid the Muslim Council of Great Britain calling for an inquiry into structural racism within the Conservative Party. Anderson has been suspended from the Tories, having refused to apologise for remarks he directed at Sadiq Khan. The MP for Ashfield said "Islamists" had "got control" of Khan – a comment that has been widely branded as 'Islamophobic.' At the moment, neither Rishi Sunak nor Oliver Dowden have characterised Anderson's words in this way. Indeed, Dowden has even admitted that the MP would have retained his role if he'd issued an apology.
