This #SaturdaySession with Conor will cover plant structure and transport. Throughout the session, the structure of plants will be detailed. This will involve examining the transverse and longitudinal sections of roots and stems. The main tissue types (dermal, vascular and ground) will be detailed with functions given for each. The intake and transport of materials, including water, carbon dioxide and minerals will be discussed with reference made to osmosis, active transport and the cohesion-tension model developed by Henry Dixon and John Joly.
