Two thousand years ago, inside the royal tombs of Egypt’s Valley of the Kings, inscriptions in Tamil-Brahmi, Prakrit, and Sanskrit may have been carved by visitors from the Indian subcontinent. But what was actually discovered? And what do archaeologists really say? In February 2026, reports in Indian newspapers highlighted research presented at the International Conference on Tamil Epigraphy. Nearly thirty inscriptions were identified across six tombs in the Theban Necropolis near Luxor, Egypt. The documentation was carried out during 2024–2025 by Professor Charlotte Schmid and Professor Ingo Strauch. Are these royal inscriptions? Did ancient Tamil rulers reach Egypt? Or were they visitor graffiti connected to Indo-Roman maritime trade networks between South India and Roman Egypt? In this video, we break down: • What was actually found • Who documented the inscriptions • What “Cikai Korran came and saw” means • The Indo-Roman trade route via Muziris and Berenike • What scholars confirm — and what viral posts exaggerate From Tamil Nadu to the Red Sea ports of Roman Egypt, the ancient world was more interconnected than we imagine. But context matters. This video explores the India–Egypt historical connection with evidence, balance, and clarity. If you value history explained without hype, subscribe and join the journey.
