'The Aerial Transport System-Transportation for a Supersonic Age' is the name of this General Electric promotional film. It was produced during the 1960s when GE owned the rights to sell the French SAFEGE monorail technology in the USA, a period that only lasted a couple of years. It's one of my favorite monorail promotional films, as it shows the mid-century promise of monorail with many fantastic views of the SAFEGE test track located in Chateauneuf, France (1960 to 1971). The monorail may look familiar to you, as it was prominently featured in the 1966 film 'Fahrenheit 451.' SAFEGE was a consortium of 25 very impressive companies, including Michelin and Renault. General Electric promoted Safege in the USA for a couple years after acquiring rights from AMF. They soon gave up on Safege in favor of more lucrative, taxpayer-soaking conventional rail. Despite this, Safege technology was used for two monorails in Japan, and other similar monorail systems have been developed and built since. Further information can be found at The Monorail Society website (monorails.org). Monorails are now enjoying a resurgence of interest and development around the world, despite the idiotic impression given in one USA cartoon show.
