One of the best ways to extend your travel experience is to recreate a dish that you remember eating while overseas to conjure those fond memories again. For me, it is the famous lobster roll from Belle Isle, Boston USA. Taking up Mission’s #LikeBreadButBetter #AroundTheWorldWithMission challenge, I recreated the recipe by making a Prawn Roll using Mission’s Garlic Wraps. The normal lobster roll is actually quite simple to make, as they only use boiled lobster meat and mayonnaise. I wanted mine to be even more flavourful, so I gently cooked the prawns in garlic and olive oil and added mentaiko mayonnaise to give it an extra seafood umami. Mission’s travel-inspired #LikeBreadButBetter sandwich replacement recipe challenge will run from 1–31 July with up to $1,000 in cash and product hampers to be won! Visit @missionfoods.sg for more details. Here’s my Prawn Roll recipe for inspiration! Serves: 2 Preparation time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 15 minutes Level of difficulty: Easy Ingredients 2 Mission Garlic Wraps 5 large Tiger Prawns 10 sticks Surimi/Crab Sticks 2 medium Garlic Cloves 3 Spring Onions 2 tbsp Mayonnaise 1 tbsp Mentaiko Mayonnaise 2 tbsp Olive Oil 1 tbsp Butter Black Pepper (to taste) Method 1. Deshell prawns and devein with deep cuts so they will curl when fried. 2. Dice surimi/crab sticks, chop garlic and spring onions. 3. In a pan, briefly heat olive oil over medium heat then add butter. 4. Add prawns and garlic, pan-fry. 5. Lower heat and sauté prawns until just cooked. (3 minutes). 6. Once done, set aside to cool before cutting each prawn into 2 - 3 pieces. 7. In a bowl, add the prawn chunks, cut-up surimi/crab sticks, mayonnaise, mentaiko mayonnaise, spring onions and mix together. Crack black pepper to taste 8. Decant melted butter/oil and use to brush one side of the Mission Garlic Wrap 9. In a pan, lightly toast the buttered side of the Mission Garlic Wrap 10. Place the toasted side down on a board and add the prawn and surimi filling on top. Fold two sides and bottom end to create a nice pocket wrap. Repeat the process to make another wrap. Happy Cooking!
