Hello everyone, I thought you'd be interested in seeing how the swarm I caught a few weeks ago was doing. I also thought it would be a good idea on how I check a swarm for diseases. Normally I would take any swarm I catch to my quarantine apiary as you have no idea if it has a disease than can spread to your other colonies. it's always useful to have a space well away from your other hives for this purpose. If you don't then maybe ask another beekeeper if you can share a quarantine apiary together. As I knew this swarm came from one of my own colonies I wasn't too worried that it would harbour any diseases. The main things to look for on your first inspection of a swarm are eggs (means theres a laying queen), pearly white larvae in a C shape and cappings the colour of digestive biscuits that are dry and without perforations. If you see anything out if the ordinary contact your local BBKA to get an expert opinion. they may tell you to contact the NBU if they think it's something worrying. Fortunately, I didn't find anything out of the ordinary. Have a nosey and tell me what you think. If you enjoyed the video and want to see more then please like and subscribe. I hope you're safe and well, Greg #swarm #honeybeeswarm #swarmcollection #norestforthewicked #shoplocal #queen #rainfordhoney #beesforsale #beenuc #newbusiness #beekeeper #queens #nuc #nucs #workingwhileinebriated #business #honey #savethebees #newbeekeeper #apiary #apiarylife #Rainford #blogger #blog #newproduct #queen #honeybeequeen #queenforsale
