A special encounter with a Dotterel (Charadrius morinellus; Boltit) flock on the remote Hardangervidda mountain plateau. The weather up top was nasty and I was on the verge of turning back when I heard the first Dotterel call, and the skies started to clear. Staying low to the ground, I was able to film these lovely birds at eye-level. For a moment all was still at the top of the world. At 3:09 the brightly colored female gives a wing and leg-stretch, one side then the other. Hearing a contact call at 3:26, the bird ruffles its feathers and trundles off to join the foraging flock, perfectly camouflaged in this landscape.
