He received the B.A. degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Minnesota (1985). He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1995, 1998). Dr. Goddard worked in the computer industry for 13 years, including president of his own company for 9 years, prior to joining the UNL faculty in 1998. Dr. Goddard's research and teaching interests are primarily in the areas of embedded and distributed systems, but he has been doing multi-disciplinary research since 1999. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
