M: Why have you had such long-term interest in the behavioral health area and helping people? M: What kind of an organization is MHARS Board, when did it get started, what is the organizational structure, what staff and facilities exist and what is its Mission? M: What are the functions of the Executive Director M: How does MHARS determine the its funding for services in the area(s) of prevention, treatment and support services? J: What is the role of the board of directors in the organization? Is there consumer involvement with the board of directors? J: In your role as a board member, how important is advocacy on behalf of individuals in recovery from either mental health or addiction? J: The board of directors have a fiduciary responsibility. How is this accomplished? J: In your role as a board member, you represent your community. How do you stay in touch with the community and bring any concerns forward to the board of directors? M: What are the priorities of the MHARS Board? M: What collaborations exist to support those priorities established by the MHARS board? M: There were 143 accidental overdose deaths over 460 nonfatal overdoses last year. What prevention strategies have been supported with funding by the board? M: How many suicides have occurred in the last year? How does those number compare to what other communities are experiencing in Ohio? J: As a Board member, what are your thoughts on the increase of suicides and overdoses? M: How does the MHARS Board funding impact real people in Lorain County? M: You mentioned earlier, enhancement of the crisis continuum of care is a priority for the MHARS board. What does this mean to the community? J: During your tenure as a Board member, what changes have you seen with the MHARS strategy on improving the continuum of care? M: I have seen information on the Crisis Diversion Center that is planned for Lorain County. Tell me what this means for the community? How does someone access this type of service? What type of treatment will be available at this Center? J: Is there support for this type of center by the community? What organizations have been involved in the development of this project? M: How will this project benefit the broader community? M: Tell us about the facts and purpose of the low-cost renewal mental health Levy Issue #9 for mental health and addiction treatment without raising taxes that is coming up for a vote this November in Lorain County.
