Kayaking the Huron River | Gallup Park + Parker Mills

Kayaking the Huron River near Gallup Park in Ann Arbor always brings something new, and this trip delivered some great wildlife encounters. Even when the river is flowing fast and full. Along the river I spotted multiple muskrats, swans, and Canadian geese while paddling through one of Southeast Michigan’s most scenic stretches of water in my opinion. To add a little history at the end of the trip, I also stopped by Parker Mill County Park, where the historic mill gives a look into Michigan’s 19th-century past and the early industry that once powered this part of the Huron River corridor. It’s a great contrast - wildlife, water, and local history all in one outing. If you enjoy Michigan kayaking, wildlife footage, and exploring places with local history, this one’s for you.
