Today I’m hiking Trapper’s Run Trail inside Lake Erie Metropark, a short, scenic nature loop that winds through marshland and dense hawthorn thickets right along the Lake Erie shoreline. The 1-mile, easy loop is mostly flat and family-friendly, making it perfect for a relaxed walk while still offering great wildlife opportunities. The trail begins near the Marshlands Museum & Nature Center and moves through lowland wetlands, with overlook points that give you views into lagoons and marsh habitat. Because it runs through wetland habitat near Lake Erie, Trapper’s Run is a great spot for birdwatching. Keep an eye out for ducks, herons, migratory waterfowl, and other marsh wildlife. It’s also a peaceful alternative to the busier marina areas of the park, making it ideal for filming nature content, photography, or just slowing down and enjoying the quiet. If you enjoy Michigan outdoor adventures, hiking, wildlife, and local Metropark explorations, make sure to like and subscribe for more content from around Southeast Michigan.
