These hitboxes are so non-existent they make this look like an official game. We're down to the original 3 NY ROM hacks, this is another Rockman X hack except this time it features Spark Man(drill), only 1 phase with 64 HP, tho, no fancy transitions nor falling sections, which is by all means welcome after the bad taste the NY 2017 hack left on my mouth. Unfortunately due to my laziness, both ROMs were called "Rockman X (Japan)" which meant that my successful replay from this hack overwrote the replay from the 2017 one, whoops... Oh well, nothing too important was lost. Now let's talk about the fight itself, Mandrill only uses 6 attacks during the whole match, the 1st and most used one, is where he jumps under the stage then comes back under your current position almost immediately, just do a quick dash wall-jump to avoid this one; the other 5 attacks are all variations of his Electric Spark -tiny hitboxes included-, arguably the most used one is when he punches the floor and releases 5 purple Electric Sparks in the same 5 symmetric angles, try to keep 2 Rockmen of distance from Mandrill so 2 of them always fly over your head; his next attack is Sigma jumping 1 to 3 times before slamming the opposite wall and releasing a flurry of white Electric Sparks in random directions, while there are no guarantees, I prefer to do the DVD screensaver strat and hide in the opposite bottom corner; the next Electric Spark attack he's got is the yellow one, which I swear is a direct reference to that of Godkarmachine O Inary when you go behind it -yes, despite getting barely 10 frames of animation, they did bother to make a 3rd attack for the thing-, for this one I recommend positioning yourself half a screen from him after the tell then dash forward, backwards and forwards once more, don't dash too early or they will track you in an awkward trajectory and trap you; another attack he's got involves him clingling to the ceiling and using the pipes(?) there as monkey bars, when he does this he will randomly pause 3 times, each time throwing 1 blue Electric Spark that bounces very low on the floor and walls, this one is more of a time waster than a threat, you can just stay under him or in the bottom corners, just make sure to jump when they bounce back; his last Electric Spark attack is his desperation move, when he reaches half health he gains a new attack in which he does 2 punches that can't hurt you before summoning a pink and teal Electric Spark that crawls on the ceiling back and forth while making more Electric Sparks underneath it each time you're directly under it or when it reaches a wall. There's not much else to say this time, well, just like in NY 2017 it lacks the ranking system in the damage taken department, so there's that (even more reason for the 2018 one to be my favorite), my first 5 attempts at this game were simultaneously all the practice I did, then I beat him for the first time in the 6th one after only getting hit twice, my 1st successful real attempt was completed after only half an hour, in total I recorded 6 but then decided to do 1 more where I showcase all his attacks and kill him in the highest point of the screen after he jumps from below the stage, I just thought it would look cool, so I did just that, the whole process took about 4 hrs and I hope the final video is as entertaining as I wanted it to be. Since this is the last SNES NY hack for now and that this description was relatively short, I'd like to comment on why I don't usually play X1, X2 and X3 in my other videos, the thing is that the first Mega Man related game I've ever played was Mega Man X4 on my original PS1, then I was given X5 and sometime later I bought X6, I never played the original SNES trilogy until much later on emulator, I still liked them but they played significantly different, it feels to me that when you dash your hitbox moves in front of your character more than it should and drastically behind of it when you're in the air, wall-jumping feels a bit off & slow and I don't feel these games buffer your jumps or dashes after landing (not really in X3's case), not to mention the lack of an actually playable Zero, I've still beaten these games a couple of times, tho. I'm sorry but I just have more fun playing the PS1 trilogy's fast-paced and more responsive action, thank you very much for dropping by and see you next time.
