Hiking Grotto Falls & the Gorgeous Off-Trail UPPER Grotto Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains!

Join me on an unforgettable adventure as we hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! In this video, I take you along the Trillium Gap Trail to the popular and beautiful Grotto Falls, the only waterfall in the park where you can actually walk behind the cascading water—a truly immersive experience with nature. This section of the hike is an easy 1.3 miles to the falls, which is one of the many reasons it is so popular for families. As we continue our venture, we also explore the lesser-known Upper Grotto Falls, accessible via a very tough off-trail route. This hidden gem offers a quieter, more secluded atmosphere and rewards us with a stunning and isolated setting. Hiking off-trail is permitted in the Smokies with the exception of three specific areas - hike off-trail at your own risk. While only about 1/4 mile upstream from the main falls, it took me almost 2 hours to get there. While absolutely beautiful, this may be a one and done venture to this particular falls.
