In this video I provide an overview of one way you can create different Biomes in your terrain. Although there are other ways you could create a biome - this details one approach. Chapters: 00:00 Intro and Overview for the approach I used. 01:11 Creating the base biome. 04:55 Creating a swap. 07:40 Creating a Desert. 09:20 Creating a sea / shoreline. 12:36 Creating a country forest / trees. 14:12 Texturing. In this video I created a single landscape with 5 Biomes. Desert. Swamp. Forest/Countryside. Sea/Aquatic. Mountain Range. Motion Forge CG Discord: Discord: / discord Further Notes: You can also, using Affinity Paint or Photoshop, prepare heightmaps and colour texture files to bring into Gaea and then use Gaea to further development the landscape and the different Biomes within it. I've also been looking into a more automated way of creating biomes and will post another video if I find something that works well. Also consider 'Regions' - This function allows you to upscale parts of your landscape to higher resolutions if required: https://docs.gaea.app/using-gaea/buil.... Once you have a landscape height map in a program such as Unreal Engine or Unity. You can then further add details, procedural generate foliage and wildlife and weather different to each Biome. Biome Description: A biome is a large-scale community of plants and animals that occupies a distinct region defined by its climate, vegetation, and environmental conditions. Think of it as a major ecosystem type that occurs across different parts of the world wherever similar climate conditions exist. Key characteristics of biomes include: Climate patterns - Temperature and precipitation are the main factors that determine which biome exists in an area. Distinctive plant life - Each biome has characteristic vegetation adapted to its conditions. Animal communities - Specific animals are adapted to live in each biome type. Geographic distribution - The same biome type can occur on different continents wherever conditions are similar. Common examples of terrestrial biomes include: Tropical rainforests - Hot and wet year-round, with dense vegetation Deserts - Very dry with sparse vegetation Grasslands/Savannas - Dominated by grasses rather than trees Temperate forests - Moderate climate with deciduous or mixed forests Tundra - Cold, treeless regions with frozen subsoil Taiga (boreal forest) - Cold regions with coniferous forests There are also aquatic biomes like marine (ocean) and freshwater ecosystems, though these are sometimes classified separately.
