Dr. Alexa Lesenskyj DeArias is a Pediatric Movement Disorder Fellow at the University of Rochester Golisano Children’s Hospital in New York. She completed her Child Neurology residency at Yale and received her medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Outside of neurology, Alexa has a special interest in narrative medicine, which she blends with her passion for creative writing. About the talk: Through a lens of pediatric movement disorders, this talk tells the story of two phenomenologies, chorea and dystonia. We will explore their historical origins and how narrative has shaped the way that we care for movement disorder patients today.
