This week’s house tour takes us through a contemporary prairie home in Star, Idaho. This Frost Homes new build at 9989 W Bouvardia Street in Torchlight Estates focuses on material quality, thoughtful design, and long-term durability. After having held open this beauty many times, I can honestly say these are everyone’s top four favorite aspects of the home. ENTRY: The entry sets the tone with a Crittall-inspired black steel front door with Flemish glass, paired with a split-faced stone accent wall that runs up to a tray ceiling with clerestory windows and dimmable lights. KITCHEN: The kitchen centers around an oversized (10-foot) island with a soapstone-like leathered granite countertop, ash-stained cabinets, and industrial milk glass pendant lights. A single piece of that same granite runs up behind the range for a seamless, minimalist, striking backsplash. Above the range, a Venetian plaster hood adds depth and craftsmanship. Venetian plaster is a traditional lime-based finish mixed with marble dust and applied in thin layers, a technique that originated in Italy and is still hand-burnished today. It creates variation and movement you can’t replicate with tile. BACKYARD: Two patios, extensive landscaping, a privacy screen, and a grotto make the most of this 0.31-acre lot. French drains protect the home from groundwater. GARAGE: Aside from its generous size (4-car garage including an 18-foot-wide and 47.5-foot-long RV bay), the garage is beautifully finished with smooth white walls and epoxy flooring. The mechanical room is enclosed by double doors and finished with LVP flooring. Extras include a utility sink, central vac plumbing, a second entry door (close to the kitchen), and a 240-volt electrical outlet for EV plug-in. Beyond the finishes, this home also includes important behind-the-walls features: blown-in blanket insulation for improved energy efficiency, continuous interior-to-exterior footings for structural stability, and over-engineered headers and beams to reduce long-term movement and cracking. If you’re looking at homes in Star, Idaho and want to understand what separates a well-built home from a typical spec property, this tour breaks it down. As I was editing, this home went under contract. But Frost Homes has several more lots… in Millstone Farm (Eagle, Idaho), Terra View (Eagle, Idaho), and will be building in Lake Haven (Star, Idaho), and Wyatt’s Hollow (Middleton, Idaho). For details on available lots, luxury homes, or the custom build process, contact me at elise@elisewishlowrealestate.com. I’d be happy to walk you through next steps in Star’s new construction real estate market.
