Y de esto, amigos míos, quiero referiros un hermoso milagro, del que hice mi cantar, cómo Santa María fue a guardar a un monje de la tentación del demonio, al que el bien desagrada. Este monje estaba ordenado, y según oí, observaba muy bien sus reglas, como he aprendido, pero el demonio artero lo turbó de manera que hizo que, en la bodega, bebiera demasiado vino. Cuando estaba bebido, el monje quiso irse en derechura a la iglesia, pero el demonio le salió al encuentro, en forma de toro, y fue a herirlo con sus cuernos, bajos, tal como lo hace el toro. Cuando esto vio el monje, se llenó de espanto y a Santa María llamó, muy recio; Ella se le apareció enseguida y amenazó al toro, diciendo: "Sigue tu camino, que malos juegos tienes." Después, en hechura de hombre, se le apareció otra vez, alto, de negro y velludo, negro como la pez; pero le acudió luego la Virgen de buena prez, diciendo: "Huye, malo, que eres peor que un chiquillo."
