It is located on the left bank of the Tagus River, bordered by the municipality of Constância to the west and north, by the parish of Rio de Moinhos to the north, by the parish of Abrantes to the northeast, and by the parish of São Miguel do Rio Torto to the southeast. Tramagal was elevated to the status of a town in 1986. Economy Tramagal is the seat of a historical ironworks, originally called Metalúrgica Duarte Ferreira, which was later acquired by Mitsubishi's truck division, Fuso, a majority-owned subsidiary of the Daimler Truck group. In the 1960s, the factory produced, under licence, Berliet trucks for the Portuguese military. Situada na margem esquerda do rio Tejo, confina com o concelho de Constância a poente e norte, com a freguesia de Rio de Moinhos a norte, com a freguesia de Abrantes a nordeste e com a freguesia de São Miguel do Rio Torto a sudeste. Tramagal foi elevada à categoria de vila em 1986. Economia Tramagal é a sede de uma histórica empresa siderúrgica, originalmente denominada Metalúrgica Duarte Ferreira, que foi posteriormente adquirida pela divisão de camiões da Mitsubishi, a Fuso, uma subsidiária do grupo Daimler Truck. Na década de 1960, a fábrica produziu, sob licença, camiões Berliet para as forças armadas portuguesas. A partir de 2023, alberga a produção europeia do camião ligeiro elétrico eCanter.
