In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view in Bosnia and Herzegovina from Sarajevo to Čapljina, from Mountains to the Adriatic Gateway, in 4K/60 frames per second. Embark on a breathtaking return journey from Sarajevo, the capital nestled in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the southern border town of Čapljina, gateway to the Adriatic Sea. This cab ride along the Sarajevo–Ploče railway offers not only captivating natural beauty but also a powerful story of resilience, rebirth, and regional connection. Departing Sarajevo’s central station, the train descends gradually through rolling green hills, winding its way past small towns and river valleys shaped by centuries of natural and human history. As we approach Konjic, the landscape begins to shift—dense forests give way to dramatic cliffs, and the Neretva River becomes our near-constant companion. From Jablanica to Mostar, the line enters its most visually spectacular stretch: deep canyons, narrow gorges, and turquoise river waters flow alongside the tracks as the railway hugs the steep rock faces. You'll pass through Mostar, world-famous for its reconstructed medieval bridge and Ottoman-influenced architecture, before entering the arid, sun-soaked expanses of southern Herzegovina. This is no ordinary ride—this is a railway rebuilt against the odds. In October 2024, catastrophic floods and landslides destroyed a 200-meter section of track near Komadinovo Vrelo, cutting the line in two for nearly four months. Thanks to rapid intervention by ŽFBiH and Turkish contractor Cengiz Insaat, the route was restored with a newly constructed bridge and reinforced infrastructure. Passenger trains resumed in February 2025, reconnecting communities and reigniting both freight and tourism across the region. As the train approaches Čapljina, you’ll feel the shift in climate, vegetation, and architecture—marking the transition from mountainous Bosnia to Mediterranean Herzegovina. Once a strategic freight hub linked to the Croatian port of Ploče, Čapljina remains a symbol of regional integration and the enduring importance of rail travel in the Balkans.
