This film tells the story of the man known as True Thomas, or Thomas the Rhymer. He was a 13th century Scottish poet and foreteller of events, bard to King Alexander III, and Scotland’s first national poet. Thomas famously disappeared for 7 years and claimed he met the Queen of the Elves beneath the Eildon Hills in the Scottish Borders and was taken to fairyland. After living with the fairies he returned with the gift of prophesy and the tongue that could not lie. Many of his prophecies included events concerning people like William Wallace, King Edward I of England, Robert the Bruce, the Battle of Largs, and the death of Scotland’s reigning King at the time.
