Chasing ICONIC native fish along the BRIDLE TRACK! (Murray Cod and Yellowbelly!)

Back out for a weekend fishing, camping, 4wding and exploring the iconic Bridle Track! This has to be one of the top places in NSW for 4WD touring, camping, kayaking and fishing! The goal of this trip remains the same; to catch Australia’s most iconic freshwater fish, the mighty Murray Cod. The Bridle Track leads all the way from Bathurst (almost) to Hill End. It starts by following along the Macquarie river before branching off to follow the Turon river (another inland river I chase Murray Cod along). I’m still super keen to catch a big Murray Cod out of here and will keep coming back until I finally do. Luckily Yellow Belly are a ton of fun to catch and are aggressive enough to take big Murray Cod lures despite being a smaller fish. I even think pound for pound they fight harder than Murray Cod. Next trip might I might have to change some things up if I’m going to get on to one of those big green fish… Maybe some new lures, new rod, new spots along the river, we’ll see.
